Extended Learning Plan
For grades 7-12, summer school will be offered with a focus on Math and English Language Arts. The curriculum and instruction will be mastery-focused, taking the seat hours and work accomplished and augmenting it to get mastery of the standards left un-mastered by remote learning or poor performance.
The district will be using over $250,000 in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds (ESSER) to employ the elementary teachers for the next 2 years and provide summer instruction to students in grades 7-12.
To address academic needs and learning gaps due to the interruption in instruction caused by the pandemic, Danville Local Schools will be hiring 3 additional teachers for the next two school years. Two “Reading Specialists” will be placed in the elementary for K- 2nd grade and 4th-6th grade. There will be an additional 3rd-grade teacher hired to reduce class size at that grade level. This will allow for all students to work in smaller groups and for the teachers to better focus on both the academic and social-emotional needs of the students.

Covid Update
Danville Local Schools is committed to the safety and health of our students and staff. We want to inform you that we have been notified of our first positive COVID-19 case in the district, specifically at the high school. We have and will continue to provide the information needed for Knox Public Health to make contact with those who may have been in close personal contact with the positive case.
Danville Local Schools will remain open and continue to follow our district plan. We will continue to work closely with KPH and anyone identified as close personal contact will be notified by KPH as part as the COVID-19 investigation. If you have not been notified by the district or KPH, your student has not been identified as having close contact with the positive case.
We ask that you continue to help reduce the number of positive cases in our district by doing the following:
- Stay home when sick.
- Wear a mask or facial covering (properly) when in public.
- Wash you hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue and dispose of properly and immediately. If tissues are not available, cough or sneeze into your sleeve or elbow.
Thank you for your continued support and stay healthy!
Jason Snively – Superintendent

Reset and Restart Last Revised: July 21, 2020
With the data that we have been able to collect from the survey that was distributed to every family enrolled in the district, the administrative and building leadership teams have developed preliminary plans to start the school year next fall based on what we know or anticipate at this time. These plans will be in effect for the first semester. We have taken the survey results, “reset and restart” guidelines and current orders of the Governor, Ohio Department of Health (OHD) and Knox Public Health (KPH) into consideration when developing these plans. Please understand all plans are subject to implementation and amendments based on further orders from the Governor, CDC and KPH.
Basically we have multiple plans with different pieces (defined below) based on what we know and anticipate for the fall. Plan two is only implemented in extreme situations. Final details of these plans will be determined and publicized by each building as possible. Please view or download the PDF below of the current plant (subject to change).
