Dear Parents and Guardians,
For the safety of all students, please remember the following guidelines and laws when picking up your child or approaching a school bus stop:
Follow Bus Stop Safety Laws: Always stop your vehicle when a school bus has its stop sign extended. This is required by law and ensures that children can safely cross the street without the risk of traffic.
Be Mindful of Bus Zone: Do not park in or block the bus loading zone. Ensure thereās enough space for the bus to safely pick up and drop off students. If the red lights are flashing and the stop device is out, do not attempt to pass the school bus.
Slow Down in School Zones: Always reduce speed when driving in or near school zones. Watch for children walking or biking to and from the bus stop and home in the evening.
Stay Alert for Children: Children may unexpectedly cross the street or move around buses. Always be vigilant, even if there are no children currently at the bus stop.
Pickup Location: If you are picking up your child, do so at designated locations. Avoid double parking, as it creates blind spots and can cause dangerous situations for both pedestrians and drivers.
Respect Bus Driver Instructions: Bus drivers are trained to ensure the safety of the children. Follow their directions and be patient during pick-up or drop-off times.
Reference Ohio Revised Code 4511.75 for further information.
Letās work together to keep all children safe and ensure a smooth and secure commute for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation!
Stay Safe,
