Thanksgiving Meal For All!

Every year Kim Fletcher (Food Service Director) and her staff prepare a special Thanksgiving meal for the students that includes turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls and a pumpkin dessert. In appreciation for everything the teachers and staff do, Board of Education members Charlie Bratton, Josh Byers, Chris Colopy, Dawna Stephens and Paul Stover personally covered the cost for all of them to enjoy the meal as well. Paul Stover (current board president) can be seen in the photo serving the meal to the students and staff.

STUDENT COUNCIL RAISES $200 FOR UNITED WAY OF KNOX COUNTY THROUGH PAJAMA DAY

The 3rd through 6th grade Student Council members at Danville Elementary demonstrated outstanding leadership and community spirit by raising $200 for the United Way of Knox County. Their fundraising success came from a schoolwide Pajama Day, where students donated for the chance to wear their favorite pajamas to school.

The money raised will support several important United Way initiatives, including Learn United, which provides after-school tutoring and enrichment activities; the ROX program (Ruling Our eXperiences), which empowers girls through confidence-building and leadership development; and All Kids Bike, a program that helps bring learn-to-ride equipment and curriculum to Danville and other Knox County Schools. These programs give students at Danville and across the county valuable academic, social, and physical development opportunities, and the Student Council was proud to help support them.

In the photo, Student Council members along with Ms. Brewer (student council advisor) and Principal Mrs. Holler are shown presenting a check to Katie Ellis, Executive Director of the United Way of Knox County. Ellis expressed her appreciation for the students’ stewardship and commitment to helping others.
