Dear Danville Students and Families,

It’s hard to believe that our school year will start in just one short week!  I hope your summer was relaxing and you enjoyed spending time with and making new memories with your families. My name is Laura Holler and I am excited to introduce myself as the new Principal at Danville Elementary!  I am thrilled to be joining this extremely dedicated team of educators and a supportive school community.

I grew up on a small farm North of Mount Vernon and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2000. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Kenyon College in 2005 and later went on to obtain my Masters from the University of Cincinnati in Educational Leadership.  My husband Erik and I recently moved our family back to my hometown after living in Hilliard for fourteen years. My hope was for our children to experience the same small-town upbringing I so fondly remember of my childhood in Mount Vernon.  We have three children: Elizabeth is soon to be ten years old and is going into fourth grade, Emily is eight years old and is going into second grade, and our youngest is a year and a half and his name is Luke.

The 2022-2023 school year will mark my 17th year in education. Most of my entire career has been spent working with at-risk youth and communities in Columbus, Ohio both in the classroom and in administrative positions.  I loved my time spent teaching in a classroom setting, but it is the position of principal that I have found to be most fulfilling. This position allows me to build relationships and work collaboratively with teachers and families, while also remaining closely connected to young students growing and learning in the classroom.

I believe that every child can excel and that the partnership between home and school is paramount. To have this partnership, you must know what your child is learning and what events are occurring at school.  For this reason, please check for communication from ClassDojo, Powerschool, and other sources of communication (emails, phone calls, newsletters, etc.). We want students, families, and community members to have a voice in our school.

I am excited to serve the students and families of Danville and look forward to meeting you all!

Go Blue Devils!

Sincerely,

Laura Holler
